If you are interested in the famous 'Dambusters' 617 Squadron then it is highly recommended that you visit the Dams attacked in the raid. A group of enthusiasts organise regular coach trips to the Dams for fellow enthusiasts and members of Lincoln's Lancaster Association. Visit to:
 
  • RAF Scampton to visit "Nigger's" grave and Dambuster Museum followed by lunch at former Officers’ Mess RAF Hemswell on departure day
  • Guy Gibson’s & Sqn Ldr Warwick’s graves in Steenbergen Holland (including meet with John & Connie van den Driesschen who tend the graves)
  • Mohne Dam
  • Weldeck Castle and Eder Dam
  • Sorpe Dam
  • Arnsburg Viaduct also target of 617 Sqn
  • Crash sites of  ‘Dambuster’ Lancasters piloted by: Flt Lt Hopgood, Pilot Officer Ottley & Flt Lt Astell. 
  • Commonwealth War Graves to pay respects to various 617 Squadron members
  • Himmelpforten & Neheim to pay respects to civilians who lost their lives in the flood waters

  • Sight seeing boat trips on Mohne, Eder and Sorpe Dams

  • Opporunity to meet Helmet Euler Local historian, photographer and author of various books including 'Dams Raid Through the lens'.
  • 12.30am 17th May - respects paid and wreath laying ceremony at precise time of raid on Mohne Dam on the Dam itself
 
COST - approximately £720 per person (Full Board)
 
Costs is kept to an absolute minimum as it is a trip run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts and is by far the best value trip of its kind. Approximate costs published at this time as some costs may be subject to increase due to VAT, fuel costs and euro exchange rate.
